    • Christian went with acquaintances to California during the “Gold Rush.” “They made their home at Sutter’s Fort...stayed on the gold fields about one year and were successful in finding some gold. However, living expenses were very high, and having no way of overland transportation, they came home by water around South America, so by the time they reached home not much gold was left.” [1]
