- Obit: The Belle Banner - June 4, 1931 -
Mrs. R. G. Scantlin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marion West, was born Aug. 11, 1862, aged 68 yrs., 11 mo. and 18 days. She was married to Mr. J. H. Cook March 4, 1880, and to this union were born six children, Maude, Effie, Martin, Oscar, Ola and Walter. Her husband preceded her in death in October 1919. She was again married March 4, 1923 to Mr. G. R. Scantlin. She leaves to mourn her death her husband, four children, two children having preceded her in death, nine grandchildren and two brothers, Elijah of Belle and Paris of Kansas and a host of relatives and friends.
Deceased was a member of the High Gate Baptist Church for three years, having lived a faithful life until death. Mrs. Scantlin was highly respected and loved by all who knew her and a large crowd attended her funeral which was conducted by Rev. H. J. Maples. Burial at Cook Cemetery. (From contributor, Ellen)
