      Frances Lucille Dean Massanari, age 83, died on June 16, 2008, at Meadows Mennonite Retirement Home, Chenoa.

      Frances, the seventh of eight children born to Sam and Tina Dean, was born on June 27, 1924, in Fisher. She married Joseph R. Massanari on June 14, 1947, in Fisher. He preceded her in death on Nov. 25, 1996. Also preceding her in death were her parents and her siblings, Boyd Dean, Hattie Dutton, Karl Dean, Dorothy Springer, Nellie Nelson and Freda Springer.

      She is survived by her sister, Wanda Ralph, of Fisher, and her children, Cindy Massanari Breeze and Clark Breeze of Champaign, Tim and Karen Massanari of Henderson, Nev., and Greg and GayLynn Massanari of Las Vegas. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Lara Breeze Troyer and Steve Troyer, Hilary and Jason Rhodes, Marci Massanari, Michal and Mark Hein, Jordan Massanari, Jacob Massanari, TJ Massanari, Jared and Jessica Massanari, Josef Massanari, Bryce and Lauren Massanari, Tanner Massanari, and Colby Massanari. Seven great-grandchildren also are part of Frances' legacy, Anya and Evan Troyer, Dylan and Noah Rhodes, Caelie Cox, Morgan Hein and Marley Massanari.

      Frances, a homemaker, school teacher, bank bookkeeper and seamstress, was also a woman of deep faith. She and her husband, along with several other local families, were instrumental in beginning the First Mennonite Church of Champaign-Urbana. She was passionate about music and inspired her family by filling their home with great music. She was devoted to her family and demonstrated unconditional love. Although Frances Massanari suffered from Alzheimer's Disease for the past 16 years, she brought a lifetime of joy and laughter to all who knew her.
