CHENOA — Jennie G. Stalter, 96 of Chenoa, passed away at 9 p.m., Thursday (Dec. 26, 2019) at Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community, Chenoa.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Tuesday at Prairieview Mennonite Church, rural Gridley with Pastor Doug Hicks officiating. Burial will follow in Waldo Township cemetery, rural Gridley.
Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa is in charge of services.
Visitation will be 9 to 10:45 a.m., prior to her funeral service on Tuesday also at the church in rural Gridley. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Prairieview Mennonite Church, rural Gridley.
Jennie was born Aug. 27, 1923 in Minonk a daughter to Herbert and Mary (Tomaszewski) Blackmer. She married Harvey C. Stalter on June 27, 1943 in Hattiesburg, Miss. He passed away on Dec. 25, 1998.
Her parents, nine siblings and one granddaughter also preceded her in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Nancy (Larry) Murphy of Chenoa and Donna (Michael) Smith of Houston, Texas; four sons, Dan (Marlene) Stalter of Temple Terrace, Fla., Daryl (Sarah) Stalter of Heyworth, Merle (Toni) Stalter of Chenoa, and Steve (Cindy) Stalter of Lexington; sister-in-law, Bernice Bachman of Goshen, Ind.; 13 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Stalter was a member of the (Waldo) Prairieview Mennonite Church, rural Gridley for over 70 years, serving the church in many areas of ministry. The Stalter’s (Harvey and Jennie) enjoyed spending many winters in their home on Lake Okeechobee, Fla. Jennie was quite blessed to have lived on the family farm until she was 93. Her faith and her family were so important to her. She loved to spend time with and be surrounded by her family, who will miss her deeply.
