    The Encyclopaedia Germanica says the Lutterbacherhof stands on the former site of the monastery Bürenthal, surrounded by the site of an ancient village called Heimeldingen. At present there is one manor house there, surrounded by the buried foundations of six smaller houses that probably date from the early 1700s. The first mention of a Bürki in connection with the Lutterbacherhof is found in the church book of Herbitzeim dated Feb. 18, 1731. The entry records the death of 20-year-old Daniel Burcki, whose father Christian Burcki of Switzerland was a farmer on the Lutterbacherhof living at Oermingen. In 1742 a lease agreement was signed by Johannes Birki; the names on the lease renewal included Adam Bach, Johann Burcky, and Mennonite Jans Burcki. In 1793 the lease was signed by Hans Burcki of Diemeringen. This 1793 leaseholder from Diemeringen may have been Johannes Bürki, who was mentioned earlier as born circa 1732 and married to Freni/Vreni/Véronique Leyenberger.

They had four children between 1817 and 1825, two of whom died during this period. On June 14, 1825 Jean Birky died in turn. At the same time, Andrew Birky brother of John, who was married Barbe Ruffenacht in 1813 in Diemeringen (67), also worked at the stud since 1817; the couple had a child in 1818 and another in 1823. Jean Hauter and his wife Barbe Esch arrived from Assviller (67) at the Haras around 1799 and had 10 children in Sarralbe between 1799 and 1817, five of whom died. One of their descendants, Elisabeth Hauter, married André Roggy in 1812 in Lorentzen (67). This last couple settled at Haras and had three children in Sarralbe between 1813 and 1816.
    ? Michel Saltzmann and his wife Catherine Weiss came from Petit-Tenquin around 1795. Two of their children were born at Haras in 1795 and 1800.
    ? Jean Birky and his wife Madeleine Schertz left Lorentzen to settle at Haras around 1817. They had four children between 1817 and 1825, two of whom died during this period. André Birky, a brother of Jean, also works at Haras with his wife Barbe Ruffenacht .
