The latest Sarralbe Anabaptists living Sarralbe in the twentieth century:

These are three brothers Esch, all singles, who ran a sawmill located at 3 rue de Strasbourg. The eldest, John, born in 1848 in Bitche, died November 10, 1940 aged 92. The second, Andrew, born in 1849 in Bitche, died February 27, 1935 aged 86. The younger brother, Eugene, was born in 1865 in the Bellevue Farm Gros Réderching where their parents were still living in 1897 (André Esch native Dorst, annex Walschbronn (57) and Christine Guth died in 1897), passed away October 29, 1938 73 years old. Finally, they were probably assisted in the management of the company by one of their nephews, Jean-JosephJoder,who died March 14, 1959 at Sarralbe, and that was probably the last Anabaptist who lived in this county. Esch brothers had a governess (Catholic) Sarralbe well known as the "Esche-Berthe" who inherited their house.
