Andrew married Anne Catherine Hodler who was born 10 Oct. 1801 at Ste. Marie-aux-Mines, Upper Alsace to Christian Hodler and Madeleine Maurer. Andrew and family left Blamont, France four years later in 1831 to emigrate via Baltimore to Butler County, OH with Andrew's brother Michael (1799-1861). In Butler County Andrew declared his intention to become a citizen of the United States. In 1854 they moved to White Oak Twp. McLean County, IL and at the age of 77 Andrew died on 3 Nov. 1876 at the home of his daughter, Catherine Troyer in Danvers, of the "infirmities of age." Ann died 14 December 1891 at Hudson, McLean County also of the "infirmities of age." Her obituary records "her posterity number 79"...She was buried...in the Simon Lantz burial ground." On the 1st of May, after an illness of two years, in Butler County, Ohio, Arthur Salsman, aged 44 years, 11 months an 15 days. He had a desire to depart and be with Christ. He leaves a wife and six children. He was buried at the Apostolic Mennonite Church. Funeral discourses by Peter Kinsinger, from Heb. 13:14, and from Pre. Smoker from Ps. 39:5.

Peter Schrock, Sr., was administrator of Arthur’s estate, which totaled $1612. Appraisers were Adam Flenner, B.F. Thomas, and C.K. Augspurger. Everything went to Magdalena and the four youngest children.

The funeral of Andrew Salzman took place Thursday, April 23,1891 from the German Baptist Church. Rev. J. Stuckey of Danvers preached the sermon to a large number of sympathizing friends and neighbors. After services the remains were taken to Carlock. Mr. Salzman has been an invalid for more than a year, having received a stroke of paralysis. Some time ago he was taken sick with the grip, which hastened his death. He leaves to mourn his death, a wife, three sons one daughter, an aged mother, one brother and two sisters. He was 63 when he died

Mr. Salzman, aged 69 years died at Mennonite Hospital after a year long illness with cancer. He was the son of Andrew and Barbara Schmidt Salzman, born in Butler County, Ohio. At the age of 5 he came with his parents to McLean County. In 1873 he went to Henry County, IA where he married Nancy Roth on August 27, 1876. Four children were born: mrs. C. W. Rains of Fairfield, IA, Della M. who died in 1901, Arthur O. of this city and Mrs. W. E. Bengston of Aurora, IL. His wife died in 1890 and on November 17, 1891 he married Lucinda Roth of Trenton, IA and they had these children: Chester W., Walter E. and Raymond D., all of this city. He is survived by 2 brothers, Andrew R. of this city, and Samuel D. of Wheeler, WI and one sister, Mrs. August Dueschner of Normal. Following his second marriage, the couple returned to this city. Mr. Salzman was engaged in farming in Iowa and a few years in the implement business and was also engaged in the carpenter business, being at one time a contractor.

Zehr, Faith E., daughter of George and Ella (Troyer) Schertz, was born in Hudson, Ill., Apr. 22, 1907; died at Mercy Hospital, Urbana, Ill., Feb. 18, 1981; aged 73 y. On Feb. 14, 1939, she was married to Lester Zehr, who died on May 22, 1962. She is survived by one daughter (Mariella K. Brandt), 3 sons (John, Daniel, and Robert), and one sister (Eunice Foster). She was a member of the East Bend Mennonite Church, where funeral services were held on Feb. 20, in charge of Ted Wentland; interment in church cemetery.
