Joseph Garber 1843-1921 Joseph Garber, son of Christian and Magdolina Garber, was born May 25, 1843 in Woodford County Ill., and died May 21, 1921.

In 1867 he was married to Catherine Naffsinger also of Woodford County, Ill., who preceded him in death in 1899. Sanderson of Gervias, Oregon; E.M. of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and a twin to E.M. who died at birth.

He came to Missouri in 1881 where he lived on a farm near Garden City until about nine years ago when he sold his farm and moved to Garden City by the side of his daughter, Mrs. Susie Hough who with her daughters administered to his necessities, until last summer when they all sold property on account of the health of Mrs. Hough, who moved west. Father went to Kokomo, Ind., to live with Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Good. He was as well as usual and Saturday night, May 21, they all went to church and he seemed quite happy. A number made the remark that Grandpa was quite lively that night. They came home and all retired and went to sleep. A little later he called his Grandson Amos to get him a drink; said he would get it himself but was so dizzy and might fall. The water was brought and he drank, Amos asked if there was anything else he wanted or if he was sick. He said, "No just go to bed." After Amos was in bed a while he heard a snoring noise and supposed his grandfather to be asleep. Early in the morning, Amose went to his room and called him three times but found him dead. The doctor pronouced the cause of his death, apoplexy.

Early in youth he joined the Mennonite church of which he was still a member at the time of his death in Howard County, Indiana.

There remains to mourn his departure, six children, thirty one grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends .--A Daughter
