PONTIAC - Mary P. Stalter, 43, Pontiac, died at 3:02 a.m. Sunday (Jan. 6, 2008) at BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal.
Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Martin-Burke Funeral Home, Pontiac, with the Rev. Daniel Ognoskie of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Dwight, officiating. Burial will be in Waldo Cemetery, rural Flanagan. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mary was born Aug. 5, 1964, at Pontiac, a daughter of Arnold and Darlene (Mau) Drechsel. She married Michael D. Stalter in Dwight, on Jan. 4, 1985. He survives. Also surviving are one son, Thomas M. Stalter, and one daughter, Sarah M. Stalter, both at home; her parents, Arnold and Darlene Drechsel, Dwight; three sisters, Suzanne (Dave) Huston, Roseville; Lana (Ralph) Brown, Chenoa; and Cheryl Zimmerman, Utica. Mary was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents.
Mary was educated in Dwight schools and was a graduate of Dwight High School. She attended Eastern Illinois University, Joliet Junior College and Illinois State University. She was employed at the Pontiac Correctional Center as a correctional clerk. She was a member–;of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Dwight. She was a volunteer for 4-H and had been previously active in Relay for Life and was a member–;of the Livingston County Young Republicans.
