SCHROCK, John Herman 88, of Trenton, passed away at his residence on April 8, 2018 with his daughter at his side. He was the son of John W. and Myrtle May Schrock, born on May 5, 1929. He was baptized at St. Peter Lutheran Church. John was a graduate of Trenton High School and attended Miami University. He excelled at basketball and was recognized for his skills on the court. John served in the United States Army and participated in the Honor Flight with his daughter, Amy. He was a member of the American Legion Post 218 in Middletown. John enjoyed a career at Armco Steel Corporation. Mr. Schrock was preceded in death by his first wife, Alice; second wife, Barbara; sisters, Mildred Wolsefer and Marie Armbruster; and his parents. He is survived by his daughter, Amy Green; son-in-law, Brandon Green; and granddaughters, Amanda and Ashlyn. Everyone thought of John as the perfect father, including his three step-daughters and numerous nieces and nephews. John traveled the world and was fluent in German and French. The trips he loved the most were to the beach in South Carolina every year with his daughter as he raised her, camping, going to the race track, and he enjoyed playing bingo with his granddaughters. He was an avid fan of thoroughbred racing. He played to win. But gambling wasn't what appealed to him, it was the bond of a jockey with a horse. His love for animals extended to dogs. John's daughter would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Rajan Krishnamani, Hospice of Cincinnati and his caregivers Kara Pennington, Megan and Harrison White and his lifelong friend Doris Page. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. Funeral Service will be held Friday, April 13, 2018 at 1:00 pm at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 311 North Miami St., Trenton with Pastor Jodi Keith officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 12:00 - 1:00 pm at the church. Interment will be at St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Middletown Combined Honor Guard. Memorial donations may be made to Honor Flight Tri-State Headquarters, 8627 Calumet Way, Cincinnati, Ohio 45249.
