- Notes for James Smith:
James Smith, born about 1732, in Trenton, NJ to Thomas Smith, Jr.,? and Ruth _______, in Hunterdon Co., New Jersey. Said to have settled in "Parks Valley" where he married Anne Parke in 1755 when it was still Frederick Co., VA. His land was said to be "north?" of Rt. 50 in Hampshire Co.
First children, Aaron, born. 28 March 1751; William Smith, born. 1753 and James Smith Jr., born. 1754 definitely children of James and Ann Parke Smith. Other children named in Will of 5 June 1815, probated,15 May 1819 in Hampshire Co., Va., named several others, namely daughters. These might have been the children of his second marriage to Mary Capon about 1755.Will probated May 15, 1819, Hampshire Co., VA.

Controversy: James Smith and Ann Parke must have married at Trenton, NJ if their first child was born at Trenton, but with later information researched it may have been more likely in "Old Frederick Co., VA" which was later Hampshire Co. VA(WV).
