" Sister Magdalena Unsicker, nee Schertz, was born Sept. 15th, 1826, died Dec. 9th, 1898, aged 72 years, 2 months and 24 days. Her husband and two daughters preceded her to the spirit world. She leaves three sons, four daughters, and twenty-seven grandchildren to mourn their loss. Services by Joseph Schlegel from 2 Cor. 5:1 and by Jacob Stauffer from 2 Tim. 4:7, 8. Was buried in the Fairview cemetery, near Milford, Seward Co., Neb."

OBIT: The Milford Nebraskan, December 16, 1898
Mrs. Magdaline Schertz Unzicker, aged 71 years, 2 months, and 23 days. She was born in Germany, settling in Hamilton Co., Ohio in 1848, where she married Valentine Unzicker; to them were born 9 children, Daniel and Lena now near Aurora, Neb., Barbara wife of our merchant John Klein, John 6 miles northwest of Milford, Lizzie deceased 23 years; Mary at Ellensburg, Wash., William at Holdrege, Neb., Emma deceased 3 ½ years, Lucy Roth near Goehnor, Neb.
Mrs. Unzicker was a Mennonite for many years always active, faithful and conscientious to her convictions. There are 27 grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted from the residence of the daughter, Mrs. John Klein, Sunday, Dec. 13, 1898, conducted by Revs. Jacob Stauffer and G. A. Munro and burial made in the Mennonite Cemetery [East Fairview Cemetery] mile southwest from town, attended by all living children except Mary and a large concourse of people from neighboring churches.
