Marjorie C. Genung, 88, of Muscatine, passed away on Thursday, November 25, 2010, at the Lutheran Homes in Muscatine.
Funeral Service will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, November 29, at the Geo. M. Wittich Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. The Reverend Mary Howell of New Hope United Methodist Church will officiate. Serving as casketbearers will be Jake White, Cody White, Eric Genung, Tyler Genung, Joe Genung and Jairin Genung. Burial will take place in Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, November 28 at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the New Hope Methodist Church in Muscatine.
Marjorie C. Genung was born on July 29, 1922, in Goodfield, Illinois, the daughter of Joseph P. Schrock and Caroline Yoder Schrock.
On May 16, 1942, she was united in marriage to Chalmer E. Genung in Peoria, Illinois.
Marjorie was a homemaker and an avid seamstress. She was a member of the New Hope United Methodist Church and enjoyed playing cards and fishing.
She will be deeply missed by her children, Timothy Genung of Muscatine, Charles Genung and his wife, Sandy, of Muscatine, Kevin Genung and his wife, Cindy, of Tipton, Jeffrey Genung of Muscatine, Nancy Nelson and her husband, Ken, of Iowa City, Julie White and her husband, Gene, of Muscatine, Caroline Shaner and her husband, Jeff, of Muscatine; 18 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Chalmer, in 1983; one daughter, Beth Ann; one son, Lester Genung; and one great-grandson, Trevor White. [2]
