    • Worked at the mill Mattmuhle near Sarrebourg for a while (around 1861) with his sons Pierre and Michel. Before that he had been an innkeeper at Bebing. After his son Pierre married Barbe Ropp in 1864 at Rhodes, he left the family business; Michel stayed on at least until 1866. [3]
