PAXTON — Harold Lloyd Ingold, 86, of Paxton, passed away at 5:10 a.m. Sunday (April 6, 2014) at Carle Hospital, Urbana.
He was born Dec. 22, 1927, in rural Fisher, to Raymond and Elsie Beck Ingold.
He married Carol Beth Johnson on Aug. 8, 1948, at Federated Church, Paxton. They are parents of Bill (Lynn) Ingold, Paxton, and Rick Ingold, Rantoul.
Harold graduated from Paxton High School in 1945. He worked for and later owned and operated Paxton Farm Equipment Co. in Paxton, the local John Deere dealer from 1948 until his retirement in 1986. He was also past president of the board of directors for Paxton Community Hospital and a member of First United Methodist Church, Paxton.
Survivors include his wife, Carol; sons, Bill (Lynn) Ingold, Paxton, and Rick Ingold, Rantoul; granddaughter, Leslie (Tom) Cottrell; grandson, Jeff (Jennie) Ingold; and great-grandchildren, Lindsey Windler, Carter and Callie Ingold and Jeremy Cottrell. Also surviving are two sisters, Joann Horsch, Hopedale, and Barbara Wilson, Savoy; sister-in-law, Emma Ingold, Longmont, Colo.; brother-in-law, Maurice (Mary) Johnson, Coco Beach, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Clarence and Lyle; and three sisters, Dora Eichelberger, Betty Unzicker and June Simpson.
Many of his farm equipment customers became friends and many sales agreements were made with his word and handshake.
He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan and as a young man played on a local traveling baseball team. He enjoyed playing golf with his friends.
He will best be remembered for his sense of humor, his fairness to all and most of all his love for his family.
Visitation with family will be at First United Methodist Church, Paxton, from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and one hour before the funeral on Wednesday. Baier Family Funeral Services, Paxton, is handling arrangements.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church, Paxton, with the Rev. Terry Westerfield officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cemetery, Paxton.
