  • Notes
    • Obit: The Peoria Herald, March 19, 1892:

“Peter Garber, an old and well-known farmer, who fell on the tumbling shaft of a horse-power and had his neck dislocated, died Thursday night from his injuries. He was an old resident of this county and was in his 71st year.”

This couple moved to Illinois in the spring of 1852 and were granted land on Oct. 9 of that year. They shared their farm in Elm Grove with brother Christian and his wife Anna. On their farm was built the Railroad School which many of the Amish community attended. And his farm neighbor was Christian Springer.

The couple had eleven children: Magdalena (Malinda); Christian; Elizabeth (Lizzie) married Daniel Ackerman; Frank (Valentine); Catherine (Katie) married John Meyer?; Mary; Veronika; Lydia; Emma; Josephine; Aaron. [2]
