The body of a former Bruning woman, Mrs. William Havenstein was laid to rest in the public cemetery last Wednesday afternoon following funeral services at the Minnonite (sic) Church at Shickley. Services were also held on Tuesday at the Hulse and Riepen home for funerals at Omaha.
Mrs. Havenstein died on February 17, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Herman Bruning of Omaha. She had reached the age of 78 years and 4 months.
The deceased was born on October 17 1856, (the stone says 1857) at Metoria(sic), Ill. Her maiden name was Lena Schrock.
On January 25, 1891, she married William Havenstein. To this union were born five children, one son dying in infancy. Surviving are her husband and four children: John of Edgar, Nebr., Catherine Walter of Shickley, Elizabeth Reynolds of Alliance, Ohio, and Lena Bruning of Omaha. A sister and two brothers also survive.
