Ruth B. KaufmannO, 89, of Goshen died early Tuesday morning, November 7, 2017 at Greencroft Healthcare.
She was born January 8, 1928 in Albany, Oregon to Joe A. and Sarah (Kenagy) Birky.
On May 8, 1965 she married William H. Kaufmann in Elkhart. He died September 13, 2006.
Survivors include three children, Karen (David) Kieper of Goshen, Elaine (Tim) Martin of Greensboro, North Carolina, and Eric (Cynthia Good) Kaufmann of Goshen; three step-children, Beth (Albert) Schlabach of Leesburg, Virginia, Alice (Steve) Slabach of Goshen, and William (Bonita Martin) Kaufmann, Jr. of Loris, South Carolina; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Luke Birky and Wilbur (Fanni) Birky, both of Goshen.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by sisters, Minerva Kropf and Lela Birky, and a brother, Eldon Birky.
Ruth was a member of College Mennonite Church and former member of Willow Springs Mennonite Church, Tiskilwa, Illinois, where she worked as a secretary. She also worked for the Illinois Mennonite Conference; Mennonite Board of Missions; and the Mennonite Hour radio program.
