McALLEN, Texas — Dorothy Oyer Parsons, 95, went to be with our Lord on Friday (May 11, 2018) at Pax Villa Hospice, McAllen, Texas.

She was a true gift of God and exemplified the meaning of her name. She was the only one in her family to complete a university degree in her 30s. She then was a single missionary in Panama before meeting her husband, Herman "Hap" Parsons, a Pearl Harbor veteran, in dental school, after which they embarked on a missionary journey together to Mexico, Papua New Guinea, Australia and later again throughout Mexico. She was a true model of strength, faith, integrity, grace, determination, courage and persistence. She had the heart of a true servant and spent her life giving of herself and ministering to others. Along with her husband, she shared God's love with all and impacted all who met her. She was a prayer warrior and a rare woman in this world who touched the lives of many across the globe.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, Herman "Hap" Parsons; four brothers; three sisters, including her twin sister; as well as three siblings who passed away in infancy.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Pamela T. Parsons; brother, Merle Oyer; and numerous extended family and friends.

Visitation will be Tuesday, May 15, 2018, from 5 to 9 p.m. with the celebration of life at 7 p.m. at Funeraria Del Angel Chapel of Remembrance.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Funeraria Del Angel, 3611 Taylor Road, Mission, TX 78573
