      “Two daughters, Marie Catherine Barbe born around 1770 and Catherine born around 1775 abjured Hoff in 1791. Christian Schertz, born about 1752, brother of David (?) was a farmer in Sarrelfing in 1779.”

      Settled on a farm (as early as perhaps 1837) in Worth Township, IL. He died six weeks after his arrival in Illinois and was buried on his new farm. He has many descendants living in the area of Metamora, IL. [1, 4]
