    • At the time of his death, Christian was lease-manager (fermier). Son-in-law Johannes Schertz, husband of Barbara Engel, and son Michael Engel, both men then living and working at Bischwald, signed the civil death certificate.

      He and his wife lived for a time at both Assenoncourt and Gelucourt. [7]
