    • Obit: from
      Richard T. Valentine, born in Missouri, was the son of Ira and Mary S. Valentine. Richard married Mary A. Armstrong on April 1, 1858 in Franklin Co., MO. 

      Richard Valentine, along with his cousins Benjamin J. and John G. Valentine, was listed on the 1867 Tarrant Co., TX Voters List. Richard Valentine remained in Tarrant Co., TX for the remainder of his life.

      He was listed on the 1870, 1880 and 1900 Bedford, Tarrant County census records, and in 1878 was appointed postmaster of Bedford and served again in 1888. The post office was located in his dry goods and grocery store for many years. 

      Richard Valentine was one of the original church founders of New Hope Church established in 1874, and served as an original trustee for the Bedford College in 1882.  [1]
