“Pryors began to appear in Amherst County soon after it was established in 1761. LDS records show an F. Nicholas Pryor born in Amherst in 1740, with children Nancy, Sally, Jesse, David, William, John and Mary born there between 1766 and 1778.
A William Pryor was granted land on the Pedlar River in 1762, and a survey was done for a Nicholas Pryor in 1763. Additional grants or surveys appear for William or Nicholas Pryor until at least 1804.
