      GRIDLEY (PNS) - Valentine L. Zehr, 85, died at 10:30 p.m. Sunday at Meadows Mennonite Home, where he lived three weeks. His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Salem Evangelical Mennonite Church, the Rev. L.R. Amstutz officiating. Burial will be in Waldo Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 tonight at Froelich Memorial Home, Gridley, and from an hour before the service at the church. He was born Aug. 5, 1895, in Waldo Township, near Flanagan, a son of Valentine and Lizzie Stahly Zehr. He married Wilda Ulrich Dec. 25, 1919 in Waldo Township. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, Herbert, 2124 Pierce Avenue, Bloomington; and David, Glendale Heights; a daughter, Ellen Streid, Gridley; a brother, Stephen, and two sisters, Katie Ulrich and Lizzie Zehr, all at Meadows Mennonite Home; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A brother and three sisters preceded him in death. He was a member of Salem Evangelical Mennonite Church. [1]

      Wilda A. Zehr, 88, of Gridley died at 6:26 a.m. yesterday (Dec. 2, 1987) at Mennonite Hospital, Bloomington. Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Salem Mennonite Church, rural Gridley, the Rev. George Craig officiating. Burial will be in Waldo Cemetery, rural Gridley.Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Froelich Memorial Home, Gridley.She was born Aug 25, 1899 in Flanagan, a daughter of Michael and Ellen Egly Ulrich. She married Valentine Zehr on Dec. 25, 1919, in Waldo Township. He died April 5, 1981.Surviving are one daugher, Ellen Streid, Gridley; two sons, Herbert, 2124 Pierce Ave., Bloomington, and David, Glendale Heights; one sister, Inez Zehr, Meadows Mennonite Home, Meadows; three stepsisters, Nettie Zoss, Eureka, and Freida Kennell and Velma Hostetler, both of Roanoke; four stepbrothers, Clarence Ulrich, Eureka; Raymond Ulrich, Florida; and John Ulrich and Solomon Ulrich, both of Metemora; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. Mrs. Zehr was a member of Salem Mennonite Church, where she taught Sunday school for several years.Memorials may be made to the church or to Meadows Mennonite Home. [2]
