Mardelle M. Kenagy, 92, of 700 N. Main St. Eureka, passed away at 10:20p.m. on Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at Maple Lawn Health Center where she was a resident.
She was born on December 12, 1915 in Flanagan, IL a daughter of Elmer and Mabel Yordy Augsburger. She was the oldest of their twelve children. She married Harold L. Kenagy on December 12, 1936 in Flanagan, IL. He died on May 8, 2007.
Survivors include two sons, John (Judie) Kenagy of Parachute, CO; Roger (Carolyn) Kenagy of Eureka; three daughters, Nancy (Bill) Romersberger of Eureka; Norma (Bill) Irwin of Germantown Hills; Sharon (Stoller) Chamberlain of Peoria; five brothers, Merlyn Augsburger of Eureka; Dean (Mary Etta) Augsburger of Bloomington; Delbert (Betty Jo) Augsburger; Donald (Shirley) Augsburger; Clayton (Millie) Augsburger all of Flanagan; two sisters, Darlene Limberg of Streator; Florence Bryant of Boynton Beach, FL; 13 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Joe Augsburger; two sisters, Verna Heiser and Ione Augsburger; an infant sister; and her granddaughter Diane Irwin.
Mardelle worked at Maple Lawn Health Center in Eureka as a cook.
She was a member of the Roanoke Mennonite Church, Olio Homemakers, and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program.
She volunteered at the Et Cetera Shop in Eureka and for Meals on Wheels.
She was the recipient of the Rose award and made quilts and pies for the Mennonite Relief Sale.
Her family and church meant the world to her. She was an avid gardener, quilter, and a wonderful cook. She also loved to travel.
Visitation and funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at the Roanoke Mennonite Church. The Rev. Doug Hicks will officiate. Visitation will be held from 9-11 am followed by a fellowship meal in the church fellowship hall. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 pm. Burial will be in the Roanoke Mennonite Cemetery. [2]
