      JOHN "JACK" SAUDER
      Roanoke - John "Jack" Sauder, 82, of 607 N. Green Street, Roanoke, passed away at 9:40 am on Tuesday January 20, 2009 at the Apostolic Christian Home in Roanoke.

      He was born on September 4, 1926 on the family farm in Roanoke to Carl and Rose Rentsch Sauder. He married Marie "Marlis" Pfau on August 10, 1947 in Roanoke. She survives.

      Also surviving are two daughters, Linda (Frank) Kandel; Jane (Jim) Thompson both of Eureka; three sons, Ed (Bonnie) Sauder of Roanoke; Tim (Jennifer) Sauder of Grabill, IN; Mark (Ina) Sauder of Eureka; one brother, Gary (Phyllis) Sauder of Roanoke; two sisters, June Huschen of Roanoke; Nancy (Everett) Gerber of Ellington, CT; 13 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and an AFS "foreign exchange son", Torsten (Ann) Johanssen of Sweden.

      He was preceded in death by his parents.

      Jack was known for his welcoming and sociable personality, keen business sense, and spirited sense of humor.

      Jack was owner and manager of Sauder and Rippel Implement of Minonk. For many of those years, he worked with his respected business associate, Lynn Rippel. He served the farmers of Central Illinois for 55 years before he retired in December of 2006. As a widely known Allis Chalmers dealer, he was highly respected by many fellow dealers. Jack was a member of the Midwest Equipment Dealers Association (Illinois Retail Farm Equipment Dealers Association) serving as president from 1978-1979.

      A member of the Roanoke Apostolic Christian Church, he served in many different capacities over the years.

      Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday January 24 at the Roanoke Apostolic Christian Church. Church ministers will officiate. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Friday at Knapp-Johnson-Harris Funeral Home in Roanoke and from 9-9:45 am on Saturday at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
