      JANESVILLE---Frances M. Birky, age 96, of 4010 E. Milwaukee St., formerly of Milton, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Mon., Sept. 6, 2004 at the home she shared with her daughter and son-in-law for the past 14 years. She was born in Janesville on March 21, 1908, the daughter of Elmer and Alma (Lange) Duxstad. She married Gilbert M. Birky on July 11, 1936. He preceded her in death on May 3, 1989. She was a member of the Faith Community Church in Fort Atkinson. Frances served on the Milton School Board in the 1950 where she was instrumental in establishing the hot lunch program. She was also a member of the Milton Women Club and the Milton Grange.
      She is survived by a daughter, Karen (Robert) Arneson of Janesville; 4 grandchildren: Pamela (David) Kelm of Janesville, Julie (Jeff) Voss of Milton, Mark (Shelley) Arneson of Milton, Amy (Don) Templeton of Evansville; 7 great-grandchildren: Nate and Aaron Arndt of Janesville, Matthew Purkapile of Janesville, Andrew and Emily Templeton of Evansville, Callie and Carlyn Arneson of Milton; and one sister, Gen Casper on Janesville. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Berniece Duxstad; and a grandson-in-law, John Arndt.
      Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Sat. on Sept. 11, 2004 at the Faith Community Church, 5949 Hackbarth Rd., Fort Atkinson. Burial will be in Milton Lawns Memorial Park in Janesville. Friends may call at the church from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Sat. The SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME, 1800 E. Racine St. is serving the family.
