      Mary M. Zehr 87, of Eureka, formerly of Morton, died at 4:28 pm on Sunday March 11, 2007 at Maple Lawn Health Center in Eureka where she was a resident.

      She was born in 1919 in Deer Creek, IL to Peter and Louisa Sutter Zehr.

      Mary is survived by one brother, Milton (Helen) Zehr of Morton; two sisters, Fannie Zehr and Doris (Robert) Yoder both of Eureka; and several nieces and nephews.

      She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Orrie and Roy Zehr; and one sister, Velma Zehr.

      Mary lived her life serving others. She was an elementary teacher in the area for many years. She also was a member of the Mennonite Central Committee, the Mennonite Women, the Maple Lawn Auxiliary, and was involved in the Eureka Et Cetera shop for over 20 years serving as day manager.

      She was a member of the First Mennonite Church in Morton, where a memorial service was held at 11:00 am on Saturday March 24. The Rev. Doane Brubaker officiated. Cremation rites were accorded and burial of ashes were in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Tremont at a later date.

      Memorial contributions may be made to Maple Lawn Homes or the First Mennonite Church in Morton. [2]
