Mrs. Velma A.Wilks of Lakeland died of congestive heart failure Monday (Sep. 25, 2006) in Lakeland. She was 83.
Born in Leslie, Mo., on Dec. 17, 1922, she came to Lakeland from Sebring in 1982. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Victory Church.
Mrs. Wilks was preceded in death by her husband, Carlton Wilks. She is survived by her daughter, Jayne Douglas, Lakeland; sons, Roy Wilks, Plant City, Ray Wilks, Arlington, Texas, Randy Wilks, Kissimmee; daughter, Joyce Smith, Sarasota; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 am. Friday at Lakeland Funeral Home. Services will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home chapel. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to Good Shepgerd Hospice, 115 S. Missouri Ave. Suite 500, Lakeland, FL 33815.
