10686 Rodney Gene Deer, 63, born and raised in Fisher, passed away peacefully Friday (Nov. 3, 2017), surrounded by his family at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

He was born Sept. 22, 1954, at Gibson Hospital, the son of Kenneth and Betty (Reber) Deer, both deceased.

He is survived by the love of his life and wife, Cathy (Ball) Deer, Fisher; his daughter, Alicia (Deer) Zeone, Rochester, Minn.; two sons, Austin Deer, Hoboken, N.J., and Alex Deer, Fisher; his son-in-law, Bryon Zeone; daughter-in-law, Joell (Bajoras) Deer; two grandchildren, Avery and Brennan Zeone; two brothers, Terry (Janet) Deer, Dewey, and Rick (Pam) Deer, Foosland; three sisters, Brenda (Jack) Spitz, Fisher; Susie (Dave) Bright, Foosland; and Wendy Landrum, Imperial Beach, Calif.

Rodney enjoyed life to the max; he maybe even celebrated too much. He loved to watch his children and grandchildren play sports, regardless of the circumstances. Dad was famously known for proudly rocking his neon-orange windbreaker pullover, sipping on a 24-ounce Bud Light or Big Slam Mountain Dew and enjoying a pack of Camel cigarettes.

Dad dedicated 16 years to the Fisher Little League and thoroughly enjoyed coaching, teaching and ensuring kids had the best baseball and softball community experience possible. He loved to help others and was willing to drop anything he was doing for those in need, both close friends and complete strangers.
His other hobbies included golfing, fishing, and excessively mowing the lawn on his Cub Cadet. Dad loved sports; he thoroughly relished comparing every Chicago Bears team to the 1985 Bears Super Bowl champions. He was so proud of the 2016 Chicago Cubs World Series victory.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, those who were positively affected by Dad make a small donation in his honor to Fisher Little League. We also welcome friends and family to celebrate Dad’s life and join us for a memorial service from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at East Bend Mennonite Church, Fisher. The family asks visitors to bring a favorite memory/story to share. Lamb Funeral Home is assisting the family with their arrangements.}

10687 Roger Dent and Ann Fenwyck had George, Rawfe, Thomas, William, a second George, Robert, Richard and Katherine. Son William had his pedigree recorded at the Visitation of Yorkshire in 1561. He was sheriff of Newcastle and Mayor in 1562. Earlier in 1548 he had purchased considerable monastic possessions in Newcastle Bourbe and other places. It is not known which child of Roger and Ann was the father of the last known ancestor of the American immigrants.

Dear John:
May I say how much I admire all the work you have done on recording the huge Dent family connection. However, being a bit of a stickler for accuracy, I have wondered where Roger Dent and Anne Fenwycke came from, no one has noted any sources for their names. I have therefore been to York, and have searched the records in an attempt to verify this descent. As the early records are written in Latin, and I am no scholar I have latterly employed a researcher, to whom I submitted various descendant lists from the USA which I have downloaded together with the College of Heralds Visitation of Cambridge.
I have found John's baptism in Ormsby (1641) and Thomas' in Guisborough (1631), Thomas being the son of Peter, and John of George.
I quote the following letter from Emma Dobson, Archive Assisstant at the Borthwick Institute of Historical Research, University of York.
"I have studied the information provided with your letter and as a result decided to check the IGI. Whilst I was unable to locate an entry for the marriage of Roger Dent and Anne Fenwycke I did manage to find an entry for their son William Dent which in turn linked back to Roger and Anne as his parents. William's siblings are also listed. The dates of all the entries are listed as "about...date". This usually indicates that precise information has yet to be located but that this is what the researcher would have expected to find. Also, the source of this information is not given. This would support the idea that the information has been deduced rather than discovered!
We checked the Pedigree lists for North Yorkshire for the Dent family but without success. We also checked the manorial records for information pertaining to Ormsby but again without success."
John, I wonder if the information was taken from an old tomb in the church at Dent? Which would mean that there is no definite connection between Roger and his family, and John and Thomas. The parish records for Dent (which is no longer in Yorkshire, but now in Cumbria), do not appear to go back to the fifteenth century.
I will very much appreciate your comments. Wishful thinking tends to lead one to attach ancestors where they do not belong.
Mary
PS: I still need to verify the parentage of John Dent who married Margaret Evans; was it George, died 1757, m. Elizabeth Harrison?

In addition it can be stated that the following has been proved with absolute certainty.
Peter Dent, naturalist and professor of Cambridge University recorded in 1684 the background of his family in Cambridgeshire Pedigrees in the Heralds Collage of London, England.
William Fenwick (a contemporary of King Henry VII) married Joane Musgrave who was co-heiress with her brother Thomas, Lord of Ryall and Heaton. They had at least one son, Sir John Fenwyke of Ryall and later Knight and Lord of Wallington. The name of his wife is not known. Sir John had at least one son, John who married Joane Clavering of Callaley County, Northumberland. Their son Sir Roger Fenwyck of Wallington and Mydelton was of an old family whose escapades with and against the Dukes of Northumberland made very thrilling history when the Percys and other border families were opposing the Kings. Roger married Dorothy Widdrington the daughter of Sir John. They had at least three children, two sons William and Raffe and one daughter Ann who married Roger Dent, born circa 1500.

Earlier Fenwicks are as follows:

Robert de Fenwick lived at Ville de Fenwick in 1190 and1230.
Thomas Fenwick possessed the Manor Capheton.
Sir Thomas Fenwick was Knight of Fenwick Manor.
Sir John Fenwick was also Knight of Fenwick Manor. He was knighted in the French war by Henry V and given the motto “perit ut Vivat” and “Trouble Ville” in Normandy. In this generation Fenwick Towers descended to Sir John’s eldest brother Sir Alan de Fenwick.
John Fenwick of “Newburne Hall”.
Sir Roger Fenwick, Constable of Newcastle and Squire of the body to King Henry VII, a brother or father of William.
Fenwycke,, Sir Roger Kt. (I1199)

10689 Roger Parke was an active Quaker, or member of the Society of Friends, during at least the middle part of his life, as shown by various records....In 1676, Roger married for the second time: "Roger Parke, formerly of Cumberland, married Anne Patison at Taylorbourne, Allendaile, Northumberland, England, 2nd month, x day (April 10), 1767." This information is set forth in the Digest of Quaker Marriages for Cumberland and Northumberland Counties, England. The original marriage is reported in the records of the Holme Monthly Meetings, Book 355, page 268, filed in the Cumbria Record Office, The Castle, Cumbria, United Kingdom."

Family: Dr. Roger Parke, Sr. / Anne Patison (F428)

10690 Roger Parke, Jr. did NOT marry Susannah Robinson. The name of his wife is unknown. Some mistaken information having to do with a will of a Thomas Robinson got this started but it has absolutely no basis in truth whatsoever, having been researched extensively by many Parke family researchers. It has also been speculated that his wife was Jane Stout but this also is just speculation – so his wife’s name is unknown. https://minerdescent.com/2010/05/19/roger-parkes-sr/ Unknown (I2178)

10691 Roggy - probably from Rochus
Lived on Lauberwald estate, 1759.

"Christian is on the estate (Hof) Lauberwald belonging to the cloister Eusserthal from 1743 onwards. Documented there in 1758 with 7 children."
