    OBITUARY: THE MILLENNIAL HARBINGER, Bethany, Va, May 1857, Vol. VII, No. V, Page 299.
    Died on Thursday morning, Dec. 25, 1866 (sic), at his residence in Franklin Co., Mo., in the 45th year of his age, of Pneumonia, Henry Childers, for 25 years a consistent member of the Christian Church. He retained to within a few hours of his death his full vigor of mind, and expressed entire resignation and confidence in the Redeemer. (Sent in by E.R.C.). NOTE: The notice had the death year listed as 1866, but the date on the paper was May 1857. Henry actually died Dec. 25, 1856.

    Henry Childers, son of Thomas G. & Mary Richardson Childers. Married first to his cousin Elizabeth Maupin, the daughter of John Maupin and Elizabeth Richardson. 

    Married second to Sarah Mitchell Adams, the widow of Elijah Adams, Jr. Henry was the father of six children with his first wife, and the father of four more children with his second wife.

    Know all men by these presents that we the undersigned heirs of Henry Childers, deceased, do consent and agree to the selling off of one hundred and twenty acres of land belonging to said estate containing the Mansion House and all other improvements connected with the same, lying, on the said one hundred and twenty acres being as we believe equal to one-third of the real estate of said deceased. In testimony whereof we have hereunto set our hands and seal this March 11, 1859.

    Probably arrived in Boone Township about 1830 (see Franklin Co., MO 1878 Atlas Map, (reprint). History of Townships, Boone Township, p. 14.

    The 1850 census shows four Adams children living with Henry and Sarah: William age 12, Robert age 11, Lucy age 9 and Susan S. age 7. (Also, children Joanna 11 mo, William Adams 12, Robert Adams 11, and Lucy Adams 9.

    Thomas Goolsby Childers, husband of Mary Richardson and father of Henry Childers. Thomas G. Childers died of pneumonia at his son, Henry Childers's home on December 21, 1856--four days before Henry died of pneumonia. His tombstone is believed to be one of the two blank bases next to Henry Childers. One of the original patent owners of Section 20, Township 43, Range 2 West.

    It has not been established if or how Thomas Goolsby is connected to the other Childers families. He could also be a son of Henry.

    In Franklin Co. deed index there is entry for land sale from Thomas G. Childers to Henry Childers, and another entry for a sale to Phillip Miller. Yet another sale to Eli Valentine, who married daughter Nancy.
