PONTIAC — James Dean Yordy II, 28, of Pontiac, died at 2:17 a.m. Sunday (Aug. 11, 2019) near Saunemin, as a result of an auto accident.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Petri Lutheran Church, Flanagan, with Pastor Amy Berger officiating. Burial will follow at St. Petri Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Calvert-Johnson & Froelich Memorial Home, Flanagan, and one hour prior to the service at the church Friday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to his son Declan Yordy's college fund at the State Bank of Graymont.

James was born April 23, 1991, in Bloomington, the son of James Dean and Peggy M. Hemken Yordy. He married Meaghan E. Gove on Aug. 27, 2016, at their home in Pontiac. She survives along with one son, Declan J. Yordy, and a baby on the way; his parents, James and Peggy Yordy, Flanagan; one sister, Kara Yordy, Flanagan; and his maternal grandparents, Paul and Rita Hemken, Flanagan.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Herbert and Ruth.

James was a member of St. Petri Lutheran Church, Flanagan. He worked as a diesel mechanic for Travel Centers of America in Morris for 10 years. He loved guns, hunting, the outdoors, listening to music, and working on cars and trucks. He enjoyed fixing anything that was a challenge, and never hesitated to help someone in need. He loved spending time with his family, friends, and especially his son.

Yordy - Herbert Wayne, son of Amsy and Ella (Zehr) Yordy, was born at Flanagan, Ill., Dec. 25, 1928; died of a heart attack at Flanagan, Ill., Dec. 16, 1976; aged 47 y. On Aug. 17, 1957, he was married to Ruth Kenyon, who survives. Also surviving are 3 children (Joe, Jim, and Judi), and one brother (Delmar Yordy). He was a member of Waldo Mennonite Church, where funeral services were held on Dec. 18, in charge of Robert Harnish; interment in Waldo Cemetery.

Husband of Ruth Elaine Kenyon Yordy Ehling Unzicker.

Father of Joseph Daniel "Joe"(Nancy J.) Yordy, James "Jim" (Peggy) Yordy, and Judith "Judy" (Jamie) Tammen.

Grandfather of Jennifer M. (Yordy) Hostetler, Daniel J. "Danny" Yordy, James "Jimmy" Yordy, Kara Yordy, and Sadie Tammen.

Ruth Elaine Unzicker, 77, of Eureka, formerly of Flanagan, passed away at 12:20 p.m. Saturday (Feb. 13, 2010) at Maple Lawn Health Center, Eureka.

She was born on Aug. 19, 1932 in Roanoke to Art and Ada Kennell Kenyon. She married Herbert Yordy on Aug. 17, 1957, in Roanoke. He died Dec. 16, 1976. She then married Gerald Ehling on Nov. 27, 1987, in Washington. He died on Jan. 29, 1997. She also married Archie Unzicker on Jan. 10, 1998, in Eureka. He died March 24, 2008.

Survivors include two sons, Joe (Nancy) Yordy, Eureka and Jim (Peggy) Yordy, Flanagan; one daughter, Judi (Jami) Tammen, Roanoke; five grandchildren, Jennifer (Nathan) Hostetler, Danny Yordy, Jimmy Yordy, Kara Yordy and Sadi Tammen; one great-grandbaby Hostetler on the way and two sisters, Viola (Bob) Birkey, Ludlow and Lorene (Glen) Busenitz, Roanoke.

She was also preceded in death by her three husbands and two infant brothers.
