DELAVAN — Arneitta M. Birkey, 95, of rural Delavan passed away at 4:55 p.m. Friday (Sept. 7, 2012) at Hopedale Hospital, Hopedale.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Hopedale Mennonite Church, Hopedale. The Rev. Kurt Walker will officiate. Burial will be in Mennonite Cemetery in Hopedale. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Davis Mortuary in Hopedale.
Memorials may be made to her church.
She was born Aug. 6, 1917, in Foosland, to John S. and Fannie L. Naffziger Birky. She married Harold C. Birkey on June 27, 1947, in Foosland, and he passed away Dec. 22, 2003.
Surviving are two sons, Jon Birkey, Marcella, Ark., and Mark Birkey, Hopedale; three grandchildren, Jim (Lisa) Birkey, Jason (Amanda) Birkey and Mary Egli, all of Hopedale; one brother, Wayne (Betty) Birky, Gibson City; and one sister, Geneva (Ellis) Good, Meadows.
She was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
Arneitta was a homemaker and a member of Hopedale Mennonite Church and its Mennonite Women, and taught Sunday school for many years.
She enjoyed sewing, quilting and working in her garden and flower beds.
