      Info from Cecilia:
WILL dated September 13, 1782 for George Park names his children. In 1784, William Cole was named guardian. George's son, John became guardian when he became of age. His name was spelled "Parke" throughout his Will. Will proven November 5, 1782. Witnessed by Moses and Allen Park. William Cole appointed guardian of orphan children but resigned Aug. 10, 1786 and John Parks is guardian with Wm. Cole as security. Elizabeth is not mentioned in Will. (She had married Richard Owen by this time - also I believe that I DID see her mentioned in the Will abstract)

George Park married Agnes, February 5, 1762. Jacob Nichols and Henry Zevelly (Zively) served as bondsmen, and Will Reed and Henry Horah were witnesses. Also on Feb. 2, 1762 when the bond was requested Moses & Allen Parke were witnesses/bondsmen. (Brent H. Holcomb, "Marriages of Rowan County, NC. 1753-1868" p. 309

1768 Moses & George Parks were enumerated as residents in John Ford's District of Rowan Co., NC

George Park appeared on the "Pay Roll" of Capt. Aventon Phelps' Scouts, May 5,1759, Rowan Co.,NC
PS in NC Rev. War (public servant? - providing supplies to the troops)

George Park/s is named on the early NC Taxpayers list (1715-1786) in 1759, Rowan Co., along with Hugh, and Noah Park/s. Name was spelled "Parks" on tax rolls, but was actually spelled "Parke". They are determined to be brothers.

Source: George Park and Agnes Nichols Park of Rowan (Davidson)County, North Carolina by Percival David Park, May 1991.

There is today a Cole Road (just recently paved) that runs near Lick Creek in southern Davidson Co. village of Healing Springs. This is most likely on William Cole's land which I believe was either next to or included the land that George Park lived on - likely to have been given to him when William Cole took over the guardianship of George & Agnes's children in 1785.

George sold 143 acres of land on the East Side of Back Creek in Frederick Co. VA adjoining William Baldwin and David Miller to Thomas Sharp in 1760-62. George had purchased this land in Frederick Co. receiving the warrant on April 13, 1751. It was surveyed 3 weeks later, May 7, 1751 for Thomas Sharp. The Chain carriers were Thomas Sharp and Matthew Allison. Surveyor was John Mauzy. George named Thomas Sharp as his assignee and lawful attorney in 1761 to collect all money due to him in Frederick Co. VA. Apparently the transfer was not officially signed until Dec. 20, 1760 when George Park of Rowan Co. NC sold it to Thomas Sharp. (Peggy S. Joyner, Abstracts of Virginia's Northern Neck Warrants and Surveys, Vol. 2, Frederick County, Portsmouth, VA: Author, 1985, p. 139) This land is in present day Berkeley Co., WV just over the line from Hampshire Co.

When John Davis, George's mother's 2nd husband mentioned his home in the Jersey Settlement and other land, in his will of Oct. 13, 1775 he said that the land had formerly belonged to Joshua Nichols (Agnes's father) , near Bald Mountain. This land must have been the land of George Parke & Agnes Nichols and may have been first given to George & Agnes and when his mother Mary Park Davis came down to Rowan Co. he may have had his mother live on land right next to or part of his land - sold or given to her second husband John Davis - a possibility.

John Davis who had land along Swearing Creek in 1762. This land on Swearing Creek had previously belonged to Joshua Nichols (Agnes' father - wife of George Parke). His deed was witnessed by James Smith. In 1770 he transferred his land to Rev. John Gano from NJ, leader of the Jersey Baptist church. He then bought the 256 acres on Feb. 21, 1767 from George Smith on the north east side of Cabin Creek , Allen Park, another son witnessed the deed. He appears on the 1768 tax list with 3 taxable men in his household. The deed includes his wife Mary. This land was in the same general area of George Park and Moses Park (Mary's sons) near Bald Mtn. Ebenezer Park, another son of Mary's sold his house along Cabin Creek to a Frederick Smith when he left for KY in 1796.
It is likely that both George and brother Ebenezer resided with John Davis and their mother Mary on this land and is the reason that they have no deeds for land extant today.

John Davis's Will was written Oct. 13, 1775 and probated Feb. 5, 1777 - heirs named - wife: Mary (formerly Mary Parke) sons John, who had land near Bald Mtn., Benjamin & David (also land near Flat Swamp which is near Bald Mtn. formerly JOSHUA NICHOLS!! land. daus. Elizabeth, Sarah & Rachel. Executors: son Benjamin & friend Thomas Todd Witnesses" Thomas McCartney, Joseph Warford and John Strong.
John DAVIS’s survey dated 15 Oct 1758 is almost certainly in this lower Davidson County location (also listed Hoffman as in the Parish of St. Luke but with creek names in that vicinity (e.g. Cabin Creek)
