      CHAMPAIGN – Edith M. Oyer, 89, of Champaign passed away Friday (Dec. 9, 2011) at Regional Rehabilitation Center, Champaign.

      She was born April 7, 1922, to Vernon and Surta Jackson in Newman. She is survived by her husband, Merle; children, Judith (Larry) Myles of Colorado and Charles (O'Delia) Mandrell of Virginia; brother, Glenn (Millie) Jackson of New Jersey; son-in-law, Bruce Long of Champaign; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and step-daughters Marcia Pribble of Rantoul and Sheila (John) Sherman of Gifford.
      She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Kimberly Long; sisters, Elizabeth Brown, Dorothy Hitzke and Agnes Proctor; and her brother, Charles Jackson.
      Edith enjoyed being outdoors and she also liked playing cards.
      Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, at Owens Funeral Home, 101 N. Elm St., Champaign. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14, at the funeral home. Burial will be at East Bend Mennonite Cemetery in Fisher.
      Memorials may be sent to the East Bend Mennonite Church in Fisher.
