• Notes

  Austin Burkey lived with his father until he was a young man. He then moved to Iowa and began farming. Austin married Clara Rodgers. They had two children - Lydia and John. In 1921, Austin fell from a hay wagon and was paralyzed from the waist down. Clara took over the farm management until his death in 1938. She then moved to Omaha to be near their children.
