    • Obit: The Nebraska Signal 7 April 1942

Katie Anna (Lauber) Eichelberger was born near Milford, Neb., November 4, 1891, to Christian and Phoebe Lauber. Her earthly sojourn ended April 1, 1942, at the Fillmore Hospital in Geneva, Neb., at the age of 50 years, 4 months and 27 days as a result from complications following surgery.

She came to this county when a child and had since made her home here. The family resided many years near Strang, moving recently to near Shickley.

In her early teens she accepted Christ, uniting with the Salem Mennonite Church near Shickley, Neb., and remaining faithful until called Home.

March 18, 1909 she was united in marriage to Joel V. Eichelberger. Eleven children were born to them. Surviving are her husband, four sons and five daughters, Esther Ritchie of Rocky Ford, Col., Florence Lichti of Shickley, Wilbur of Rocky Ford, Col., Grace of Hesston, Kas., Ray, Clayton, John, Lois and Ila at home. She also leaves her mother, three sisters and four brothers. Two sons, her father and one sister preceded her to the life beyond.

Mother's vacancy is keenly felt in the home. Hers was a life of unselfish, sacrificial service for her family and fellowmen. Her quiet daily walk with her Savior was one of inspiration and example.

Funeral services were conducted by Brother Fred Reeb at the home near Shickley and by Bishop P. R. Kennel at Salem Church Friday, April 3. The text was St. John 16:16. Interment was in Salem Mennonite Cemetery.
