- In 1878 a James owned 40 acres of land in Franklin Co., shown on the plat as belonging to James Park.
Jack Thompson sent xerox of page 280 of a book he called “History Illustrated” MO 1888. Chapter title is History of Franklin County. Last paragraph reads:
“William L. Hall ran the most remarkable career as a murderer of any one in Franklin County. On January 18, (year is not readable) he was twice before the following jury for the murder by (word unreadable) of Andrew Bullock: William W. Johnson, William E. Brown (?), Henry Anderson, James Park, John Evans, Thomas W..(word unreadable), Joseph J. Brown, William Reynolds, William P. (word unreadable), James Waggoner, John D. Carter and George W. McCullough. This jury brought in a verdict of “guilty of murder in the first degree, as charged in the indictment.” on the date named above. On January 19, a new trial was granted, and a change of venue to Washington County also granted.”
There is another James Park, husband of Ollie Dent, and they had a son named James.
Probate records for James Park, dated 4 Feb 1863, give Wm Parkes adm. of the estate of James Parkes, decd.
Chesney Cromer was clerk of the sale.
There were credits for P. R.Sawyers, Wm. Parks, Elizabeth Rhodus.
Purchasers included: Daniel Miller, Wm H. Wagers, Wm Park, Wm. W. Park, Mrs. Ware, R.T. Vallentine, Anderson Park, Jasper H. Wagers, John Miller, James Park, and David M. Cromer.
