Violet M. "Vi" Hohulin, 98, Eureka, passed away at 10:10 p.m. Saturday (April 7, 2012) at the Apostolic Christian Home, Eureka.
She was born Oct. 7, 1913, in Carlock, daughter of Sam and Lillian Stoller Zimmerman. She married Chris Hohulin on Feb. 18, 1934, in Eureka. He preceded her in death on May 12, 1992.
She also was preceded in death by four grandchildren, her parents, four brothers and two sisters.
In her early life, Vi worked for State Farm Insurance Cos. in Bloomington. She was later employed by Standard Oil Soil Lab and Dietrich Manufacturing in Goodfield.
Vi loved the Lord and found great pleasure in volunteering and serving others. She had been a volunteer with the Et Cetera Shop in Eureka, the Eureka Apostolic Christian Home, Eureka Hospital, as well as the hospital auxiliary.
Vi's life work was as a homemaker, working as a seamstress, doing alterations and making many wedding dresses. She loved to entertain and spent many hours baking and crocheting.
The greatest joy in Vi's life was her family. She treasured times spent gathering together and cherished visits from all. She was an inspiration to all who knew her. She modeled kindness and compassion as she served and gave to others. Her quick wit and ability to stay positive brought humor to any situation.
Vi was a faithful member of Goodfield Apostolic Christian Church, where she attended regularly. [1]
