  • Notes
    • "Perhaps another son of Johannes, or from a different Unzicker family in Nehweiler. In 1808 he is mayor (maire) in Nehweiler. Married to Barbara Holly, dau. og Georg Holly and Barbara Burki in Nehweiler."
      ————
“Joseph Unzicker born around 1760, married to Barbara HOLLY de Nehwiller, daughter of Georg Holly and Barbara Bürki was mayor of Nehwiller from 1804 to 1819. It is quite rare to find such Anabaptists involved in political life.
Generally they did not accept public functions on the pretext that their kingdom was not of this world, remembering above all that the exercise of power was so often linked to physical violence. Unzicker was a grower and had, it seems, 10 children (a genealogical trace on "ancestry.com" only mentions 2 children: Magdalena and Barbara). These two girls found their spouse in the region.

In Nehwiller, five names of Anabaptist families knew us: Burki, Eichelberger, Holly, Schantz and Unzicker. The Tauferhof was on the site of the Marie.”
