FISHER — Leonard “Lucky” Unzicker, 90, of Fisher, went to be with Lord on the morning of Friday (Feb. 19, 2016) at the Gibson City Annex, Gibson City.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Gibson City Bible Church, Gibson City. The Rev. Paul Thomason will officiate. Burial will follow at East Bend Memorial Gardens, rural Fisher. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, also at Gibson City Bible Church.
Leonard was born Nov. 24, 1925, in Fisher, a son of Otto and Emma Schrock Unzicker. He married Ruth Lehe on May 11, 1951, in Remington. She survives.
Also surviving are four children, Myron (Connie) Unzicker, St. Joseph, Mo.; Valerie (Paul) Shepherd, Vania (Larry) Hannah and Marlin (Theresa) Unzicker, all of Fisher; and a brother, Wayne “Pete” (Lil) Unzicker, Huntley.
"Grandpa U" had 12 grandchildren, Matt (Beth) Unzicker, Travis (Lauren) Unzicker, Chelsea (Trevor) Limle, Emily (Roger) Purdy, Will Unzicker, Zack Unzicker, Jake (Tiffany) Shepherd, Luke Shepherd, Casey Hannah, Jena Unzicker, Colten Unzicker and Trevor Unzicker; five great-grandchildren and two more expected soon.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Lucky was a 1943 graduate of Rantoul Township High School. He was with the local Plumbers and Pipefitters Union 149 for more than 50 years. He was a member of the Bible Church in Gibson City. He loved to square dance and go camping. He spent many hours watching grandkids and town kids in their sporting and school events.
Memorials may be made to Gibson City Bible Church or Fisher Athletic Booster Club.
