Notes - Gospel Herald Obit:
Yordy, Aaron A., son of Joseph and Elizabeth (Roeshley) Yordy, was born near Flanagan, Ill., March 16, 1888; died Nov. 7, 1957, at the Home for the Aged, Eureka, Ill.; aged 69 y. 7m. 22d. Surviving are 3 sisters (Ella, Meadowlark Homestead, Newton, Kans.; Anna, Eureka, Ill.; and Mrs. Josephine Schrock, Fisher, Ill.), and 4 brothers (Ezra and Jonas, both of Eureka, Ill.; Walter, Chicago, Ill.; and Alvin, Denver, Colo.). One brother (Lewis) preceded him in death. In his youth he accepted Christ as his Saviour and became a member of the Roanoke Mennonite Church. Funeral services were held Nov. 9 at the Roanoke Church in charge of Wesley Jantz and John L. Harnish.
Following are remarks made by Alvin Yordy at the Joseph Yordy Reunion, June 10, 1978:
"Aaron, the oldest son, never married. He was a shy, introverted personality. His eyes were badly crossed, which added to his withdrawal. One of his first expenditures after earning his own money was to have the operation to correct this defect of his eyes. Furthermore, he had several older sisters and some younger brothers who were more aggressive and people-oriented, which made it easy for Aaron just to stay in the background." [7]
