David Yordy of Ashley, Michigan, brother of Simon Yordy and Mrs. Joe Yeackley of Milford, was attacked and gored by a bull when he went to the pasture to get the cows early Sunday morning. When he failed to return, his two sons, Charles and John, started a search for him and found him in the pasture. He was taken to a hospital. He died a half hour after he arrived at the hospital.

Mr. and Mrs. Yordy formerly lived on a farm near Milford.

David, son of John and Magdalene Yordy, was born in Bureau county, Illinois on January 16, 1875, died at the Clinton Memorial Hospital, St. John's, Michigan, at 8 o'clock a.m., September 30, 1934, aged 59 years, 8 months and 14 days.

On November 14, 1907, he was married to Sarah Stauffer at Milford, Nebraska. To this union were born four sons and one daughter, Orvin, Charles, Ada (wife of Leonard Litwiller, Hopedale, Illinois), John and Emerson. In 1931 they opened their home to a little girl, Grace, whom they later adopted.

As he is the first one to be taken from the home, he leaves his bereaved companion, the children, a son-in-law and two grandchildren, Arline and Phyllis. He also leaves three brothers and four sisters, Fannie Yeackley and Simon, Milford, Nebraska; John, Kewanee, Illinois; Emma Swartzendruber and Lizzie Erb, Wellman, Iowa; Bella Schrock, Albany, Oregon; and Peter of Texas; as well as other relatives and many friends.

At the age of sixteen he accepted Christ as his Savior and joined the Mennonite church, of which he has been a member through life. His desire was to live the Christian life and he went about it in a quiet way.

A funeral service was held at the Bethel Mennonite church, Ashley, Michigan, on October 2, Rev. George Sommer officiating.

Rev. George Miller, Rev. William Eicher Ammon Miller had charge of funeral services at the East Fairview church Thursday afternoon. Burial in the church cemetery.
