      MANASSES TROYER IS DEAD
      OLD CITIZEN OF THIS COUNTY
Came to This County in 1841 and Was Successful Farmer and Veterinary Surgeon
--- Thursday morning at 1:20 oclock occurred the death of Dr Manasses Troyer at his home three and one-half miles southwest of Hudson. The deceased was born June 16, 1841 in Licking county Ohio and moved with his parents to McLean county in 1851, settling in White Oak township. On Jan 19 1862 he was united in marriage with Miss Kate Salzman and moved to the farm where he has resided ever since with the exception of one year. To their union were born thirteen children, ten daughters and three sons, of whom five daughters and one son have preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife and the following children and grandchildren: Mrs John Troyer, Miss Ida Troyer, Mrs George Schertz and Rev E Troyer of near Hudson; Mrs Lon Augspurger of Downs; Mrs H A Patton of Bloomington and Ira M of Kerrick; nineteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, besides the following brothers and sisters: Mr Hiram Troyer of Gibson City; Mrs Chris Frey of Earlham IA; Mrs Nancy Zook of Cherokee Kas and Mrs Dan Lehman of Canon City Col
He was a successful farmer and also a practicing veterinary surgeon until his health failed. He came to this country when it was a raw prairie and was instrumental in many of its improvements. His life was lived for the good of others. He accepted Christ and united with the Mennonite church early in life and remained faithful to the end. Altho he was a great sufferer in his last illness, he bore it all patiently.
Funeral services will be held at his residence Sunday morning at 10:30 and at the East White Oak church at 11 oclock
The all-day missionary service which was to have been held at the church Sunday will be postponed until a later date

Son of Jonas and Elizabeth Troyer. He became a successful farmer and veterinarian. Became part of the East White Oak Mennonite Church and his son, Emanual became a minister of this church. [1]
