Notes - Petit-Tenquin (pop. 2009: 224) was destroyed during the Thirty Years War, then repopulated by Belgians. There is a passage of a Roman road in the village. Ferme Zelle is a former priory of Saint-Denis of Paris. (Population in 2009 was 224.) In 2012 “A La Ferme de Zellen” was owned by Koenig - Dubois.
Children Michael, Pierre, Catherine, Magdeleine, Barbe and Christian were all born at Zelle farm near Petite-Tenquin, but the parents registered the births at Sarralbe.
Later, Michel worked at St. Croix, most probably at the time Jean Gingerich was the leaseholder.
Michel Salzman was witness to the death of Christian Oyeman of Dulbestroff (Chateau-Salins). Both were living at Vallerade near Albestroff.
——————————————
One of four Anabaptist families living at Haras:
Michel Saltzmann and his wife Catherine Weiss came from Petit-Tenquin (57) in 1795. Two of their children were born at the Haras: one in 1795, who married in 1827 at Val-de-Guéblange (57), and another in 1800 that died the day after his birth. One son born in 1780 in Petit-Tenquin, Michel the young, married March 3, 1804 at Sarralbe to Hirschy Catherine, daughter of Pierre and Agnès Hirschy Farny. The couple had a child in 1804 who does not appear on the birth certificate. He probably left Sarralbe after that date, perhaps to the Val-de-Guéblange with parents and Michel’s brothers.
