Cender, -- Elsie May, fourth child of Mose and Mary (Stutzman) Kauffman, was born near Goshen, Ind., May 4, 1875; departed this life at this home of her daughter in Bay Port, Mich., Feb. 25, 1952; aged 76 y. 8 m. 21 d. She was married to Joseph Cender, Fisher, Ill., March 18, 1906. To this union were born 2 sons and one daughter (Raymond, Fisher, Ill.; Homer, International Falls, Minn.; and Marie, Bay Port, Mich.), who survive. Also surviving are one adopted son (Elvin), 10 grandchildren, and one sister (Alice Hochstedler, Middlebury, Ind.). Her husband preceded her in death Aug. 8, 1928. She accepted Christ as her Saviour in her youth and united with the Mennonite Church. Funeral services were held at the Pigeon, Mich., Mennonite Church Feb. 26, in charge of Donald King and the following day at the East Bend Mennonite Church, Fisher, Ill., with Harold Zehr in charge. Interment was made in the East Bend Cemetery.
