    • Obit:
      Birky, Mary Elizabeth, daughter of Emanuel L. and Lydia (King) Kenagy, was born in Cass Co., Mo., June 7, 1876; passed away at her neighbor's home near Columbia Falls, Mont., from a heart attack on April 9, 1954; aged 77 y. 10 m. 2 d. In her youth she accepted Christ as her Saviour and became a member of the Mennonite Church near Garden City, Mo. She served faithfully as a deacon's wife till the calling home of her first husband, and was true to her Lord until the Lord called her home. On Jan. 7, 1897, she was married to John W. Oesch, who preceded her on Sept. 28, 1936. To this union were born 3 sons and 3 daughters, all of whom survived except one who lost his life in an accident during childhood. They moved to Creston, Mont., in 1917 where Bro. Oesch was ordained as deacon and he served them until his death. In February, 1940, she was married to Joseph N. Birky, who passed away April 5, 1953. Surviving are 5 children (Buella Miller, Bernice Hooley, and Harold Oesch, all of Kalispell, Mont.; Lella Lapp, Nampa, Idaho, and Vernon, Rexford, Mont.), 11 stepchildren (Roy Birky, Parnell, Iowa; Elmer Birky and Mary Benson, both of Creston, Mont; Harry, Vernon, Jonas, Ezra, and Paul Birky, all of Kalispell, Mont.; Jacob and Emma Birky, Columbia Falls, Mont.; and Eva Greig, Nickerson, Kans.), 5 half brothers and one half sister (Urie and Irvin Kenagy, Albany, Oreg.; William Kenagy,Hubbard, Oreg.; George Kenagy, Glendale, Calif.; Sarah Birky, Oregon City, Oreg.; and Thomas Kenagy, Salem, Oreg.). Funeral services were held in the Waggner and Campbell Funeral Home in Kalispell, Mont., in charge of J. G. Hochstetler and D. D. Brenneman. Burial was made in the Conrad Memorial Cemetery.

      Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Birky, 77, died west of Columbia Falls Friday evening. She had been a resident of the Flathead since 1917, living in the Creston area until a few years ago when she moved west of Columbia Falls.
      She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph N. Birky, a year ago.
      Mrs. Birky is survived by her five children by her first husband, John Oesch, Mrs. Ora Miller of Kalispell, Mrs. Daniel Lapp of Nampa, Ida.; Harold of Kalispell; Vernon of Rexford, and there are 11 stepchildren, Roy Birky of Parnell, Ia.; Elmer Birky of Creston, Harry, Vernon, Jonas, Ezra and Paul Birky, all of Kalispell; Jacob Birky of Columbia Falls, Mary Benson of Creston, Mrs. Eva Grieg of Nickerson, Kan., and Emma Birky of Columbia Falls.
      Funeral arrangements will be announced by Waggener and Campbell Funeral Home.
