      HALSEY - The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 14, at Lake Creek Mennonite School for Elden Willard Birky of Halsey, who died July 9 of age-related causes at age 87. Burial will follow at Alford Cemetery in Harrisburg. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Murphy-Musgrove Funeral Home in Junction City.

      He was born May 5, 1920, in Albany to Joseph and Sarah Kenagy Birky. He married Priscilla Kropf on Nov. 7, 1943, in Halsey.

      He worked as a carpenter, including work in remodeling.

      Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Carrie Gingerich, Margaret Warfel and Loretta Birky, all of Halsey; seven sons, Ernest, Kenneth, David and Ben, all of Halsey, Delbert of Stirling, Alberta, Vernon of Fairfield, Mont., and Robert of Madras; two brothers, Luke and Wilbur, both of Goshen, Ind.; two sisters, Ruth Kauffman of Goshen, Ind., and Lela Birky of Crockett, Ky.; 48 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren. An infant child and five grandchildren died previously. [3]
