  Mary E. Hochstettler married Daniel Birky - her brother Dan's wife's brother. Together Dan and Mary farmed for forty-five years on good land two miles southwest of Morton. They had three children, Clara, Ida and Edwin. After Dan's death in 1927, Mary stayed on the farm. Her son Edwin and his wife lived near Mary. Mary died in 1946 at the age of eighty-two. [2]
