    • Obit:
      Springer, David V., son of John and Elizabeth (Nafziger) Springer, was born near Hopedale, Ill., Feb. 24, 1875; passed away at the Gibson City Convalescent Home after an illness of 18 months; aged 79 y. 5 m. 26 d. On Feb. 4, 1900, he was united in marriage to Lena A. Birkey. They farmed near Hopedale for 9 years, near Saybrook for 30 years and then retired to their present farm near the East Bend Mennonite Church. To this union were born 6 children (John and Elizabeth, at home; Aaron, of Foosland; Kathryn, Cleveland, Ohio; Roy, of Saybrook; Melvin, Indianapolis, Ind.), Surviving are his wife, the 6 children, 3 grandchildren, one foster grandson, and 5 foster great-grandchildren. Two brothers and 6 sisters preceded him in death. In his youth he accepted Christ as his Saviour and became a member of the Mennonite Church. He was an active member, serving as a Sunday-school teacher and in other church activities. Funeral services were held at the East Bend Mennonite Church near Fisher, Ill., Aug. 22, with Howard Zehr, officiating and Harold Zehr assisting. Burial was made in the East Bend Cemetery.
